The last time we visited Uppåkra arkeologiska center just outside Lund in Sweden, we got the possibility to participate in a movie recording for the museum. It’s not the first time we were participating in some sort of movie, but it was definitely the first time filming in 3D for a movie meant to be seen with virtual reality. This was a super amazing experience. We had a lot of fun doing this.
Another thing that was new was to play the role of vølve. There were no script so I had to come up with lots of weird things to say in Old Norse. Sadly this is not heard in the final result.
As this was way before the pandemic hit, no one knew that the world would be at a lock down when the movie was suppose to be ready, and as August of the next year was closing in, there was no opportunity to travel to Uppåkra to see the film.
Luckily, I now have the pleasure of sharing this movie with you. Of course its meant to be seen in situ at Uppåkra, but since a lot of us still don’t have the opportunity to travel across the boarders yet, this is the best way to see at it, for now. If you ever are in the area of Lund or Malmö in Sweden, make sure to drive by Uppåkra to see this wonderful place and try out the virtual reality!
Watch the movie in full screen for best result, and remember to move around to see it all. Enjoy!
